Emergency services in Curaçao responded to a fire at the former St. Elisabeth Hospital (SEHOS) building in Willemstad after reports of smoke coming from the abandoned hospital complex.

According to reports, Curaçao police received multiple calls at approximately 11:41 a.m. on August 30 about smoke coming from the former hospital building on Pater Eeuwensweg. Police officers and the Curaçao Fire Department were dispatched to the scene.

Emergency responders found smoke in two separate areas of the building, including an upper-floor section previously associated with the hospital's intensive care facilities and another area on a lower level. Firefighters brought the situation under control and prevented the fire from spreading further through the complex.

Authorities have not yet announced the extent of the damage or whether anyone was inside the building when the fire started.

An investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the fire, making the incident one of the latest emergency developments drawing attention in Willemstad.
