Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL) is moving ahead with a major US$14 million redevelopment and expansion of its Bird Rock operations in Saint Kitts, marking a significant new private-sector investment in the Federation.
The project is being viewed by government officials as a strong signal of investor confidence in Saint Kitts and Nevis, with Prime Minister Dr. Terrance Drew welcoming DDL’s continued commitment to the local economy.
The expansion is expected to strengthen DDL’s operations while contributing to broader commercial activity in the Bird Rock area. Large-scale private investment can also create opportunities for local contractors, suppliers and service providers.
The development comes as Saint Kitts and Nevis continues efforts to diversify its economy and attract productive investment beyond traditional sectors. The government has identified tourism, energy, infrastructure and innovation among areas offering investment opportunities.
The DDL expansion adds fresh momentum to the country’s investment landscape, particularly at a time when businesses across the region are facing higher operating and shipping costs.
