Antigua and Barbuda is taking a new step to attract international investment after joining the Maldives and the United Nations in launching the Island Investment Forum in Malé.
The platform was launched during the 2026 SIDS Global Business Network Forum, which brought together more than 200 participants from over 30 countries, including investors, businesses, financial institutions and development partners.
The Island Investment Forum is designed to connect investment-ready projects in Small Island Developing States with global investors and businesses. Key areas include tourism, renewable energy, digitalisation, artificial intelligence, innovative financing and sustainable economic development.
Antigua and Barbuda’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Walton Webson, said the initiative could help turn development commitments into practical investment opportunities for island economies.
For Antigua and Barbuda, the new platform could create additional channels for attracting capital, supporting economic diversification and strengthening partnerships beyond the traditional tourism sector.
The initiative also forms part of the wider Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS, giving the country a prominent role in efforts to build more resilient and sustainable small-island economies.
