Guadeloupe’s business community is pressing for action on rising operating costs and limited access to land as an economic tour brings employers and entrepreneurs into direct discussions across the archipelago.

The UDE-MEDEF economic tour visited communities across Guadeloupe during late July and August, with the employers’ organisation meeting directly with business leaders to identify the challenges affecting companies.

Among the recurring concerns are energy costs and access to commercial land, issues that can influence investment decisions and the ability of companies to expand. The tour is also examining the different pressures facing sectors and municipalities across the territory.

The discussions come as Guadeloupe’s wider economy faces mixed conditions. INSEE reported that economic activity declined in the first quarter of 2026, although employment remained broadly stable and hotel activity rebounded, supported by stronger foreign visitor numbers.

For local businesses, improving the cost environment and access to productive land could be important for maintaining investment and encouraging future expansion.

The economic tour is expected to help UDE-MEDEF compile the concerns of companies across the islands and strengthen its proposals for improving Guadeloupe’s business environment.
