NASSAU, Bahamas — The Bahamas is taking another step into the emerging artificial intelligence and robotics economy with the launch of a dedicated humanoid robotics and AI laboratory.

Simplified Tech says its new facility is designed to move beyond simply importing advanced technology, with a focus on robotics research, AI integration, product testing, robot customization and the development of technology applications for Caribbean businesses.

The company says the laboratory will explore applications across retail, hospitality, warehouses, inspections, homes and elderly support, while also developing specialised AI agents and providing employee training.

The initiative builds on Simplified Tech's earlier experimentation with its humanoid robot Evie, which has already been used in a real business environment. The company also plans to introduce additional robots aimed at the hospitality sector.

For Bahamian businesses, the push could have major implications for productivity and automation. Company executives argue that robots and AI could take over repetitive tasks while creating demand for new technology-focused roles.

The development places The Bahamas among the Caribbean markets experimenting with the practical use of humanoid robotics and AI, potentially opening new opportunities for local businesses, technology workers and entrepreneurs.
